Abstract

The meaning of the word politics has been changing through the years; historical experience, cultural norms, and ideological orientations influence the dynamics of change. In this context, this article aims to contribute to the understanding of how such political definitions have been identified, developed, and applied to practice in the realm of governance and civic engagement. To achieve this, through the review of archival materials, primary and secondary historical sources, and political writings, including state documents, this research attempts to identify the key factors that determine how people and society view politics. In particular, this article pays much attention to how state traditions, political ideologies, and cultural factors define these interpretations, which explores and compares diverse political thoughts and their use in explaining the various aspects of governance, public institutions, and political participation. Accordingly, it has employed methodical archival research to analyze political definitions from a variety of historical periods to show how philosophical, institutional, and ideological factors affect the idea of politics and discuss the relevance of these changing definitions to the present political discourse. The findings indicate that political philosophy is dynamic, not static, and the effects of social interactions, political leaders, and historical settings on political philosophy are real. Specifically, the case study of the archive inquiry provides useful findings on how, over time, political narrative has been employed to justify governments and their power structures, as well as the role of the public. Overall, this research makes a great contribution of this research to political science, historical political analysis, and cultural studies, as it presents a systematic review of the political definitions from an archival perspective. Finally, it also highlighted the role of historical political discourse in the formation of contemporary governance and called for further studies on political concepts and state traditions from an interdisciplinary perspective.
